Rutgers School of Public Health is seeking an Assistant Professor in Biostatistics on the tenure track. Qualified candidates should have a PhD or equivalent in biostatistics or a related discipline, demonstrate potential for scholarly achievement, demonstrate potential to obtain extramural funding to sustain their research program, demonstrate enthusiasm for teaching and mentoring a new generation of public health researchers, and a commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion.
The ideal candidate will enhance our biostatistical core and complement or deepen our current department strengths, including but not limited to: big data, causal inference, data fusion, data science, genomics, imaging, and machine learning. Faculty at the Rutgers School of Public Health will have the opportunity to engage in exciting teaching and mentorship activities in our masters and doctoral programs. The incumbent faculty member shall:
- Develop new statistical theory, methods, and/or computational tools
- Collaborate in team-science research as lead biostatistician in basic science, translational research, and/or population science
- Obtain extramural funding
- Engage in teaching and mentorship activities at SPH
- Provide service to department and school
Understand and adhere to RBHS compliance standards as they appear in RBHS (legacy UMDNJ) Corporate Compliance Policy and Code of Conduct and Conflict of Interest Policy
COVID-19 Immunization Requirement
Under Policy 60.1.35, Rutgers University requires all prospective employees to provide proof that they are fully vaccinated and have received a booster (where eligible) against COVID-19 prior to commencement of employment, unless the University has granted the individual a medical or religious exemption. Prospective employees who are not eligible for a booster at the time of an offer of employment must provide proof they have received a booster within two weeks (14 calendar days) of eligibility. Based on current guidance, individuals are considered fully vaccinated against COVID-19 two weeks after receiving the final dose of any COVID-19 vaccine authorized or approved for use in the United States by the United States Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and recommended by the Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices (ACIP) of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). Eligibility for a booster against COVID-19 varies and is explained on the University’s web site located at https://coronavirus.rutgers.edu/covid-19-vaccine. Failure to provide proof of primary vaccination and booster will result in rescission of a prospective employee’s offer of employment and/or disciplinary action up to and including termination.

Minimum Education and Experience
Successful applicants will have:
* PhD or equivalent in biostatistics, statistics, or a closely related field
* Record of publications in collaborative research and biostatistical methodology
* Excellent written and oral communication skills

Physical Demands and Work Environment
Standing, sitting, walking, talking and hearing. No special vision requirements. Lifting up to 20 lbs.
