Summary of Position:
Bismarck State College is seeking a knowledgeable and motivated Assistant Teaching Professor of Music to join our faculty. The successful candidate will support student success by directing choral activities, the BSC Concert Choir and Chamber Choirs, choral conducting, and preparing music events for BSC events.
COMPENSATION: Full-Time, special non-tenure track position. Competitive salary based on directly related experience and education.

Key Responsibilities:
In addition to the responsibilities listed above, the successful candidate will be responsible for:
- Teaching Music Theory I & II, Aural Skills I & II, Applied Voice Lessons, Music Appreciation, World Music
- Facilitating State and Regional music festivals or other areas of expertise or interest
- Participating in professional organizations such as NDMEA or ACDA
- Assessing students
- Committee work
- Coordinating with accompanists for rehearsals and performances
- Other duties as assigned
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Master’s degree in Music, Choral Directing, or other related field
- Documented successful experience with teaching choral music
- Documented successful experience with private music lessons
- Documented successful experience with recruiting collegiate students
- Documented successful teaching experience
- Ability to work cooperatively with diverse groups and ability to work as a team member
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Experience in planning and executing concerts
- Good working knowledge of computer software programs (i.e., Microsoft Office, email, & electronic calendar – Outlook)
- Creative in using a variety of teaching resources, media, and instructional technologies
Preferred Qualifications
- Earned doctorate (PhD or DMA)
- Experience with distance delivery of courses
- Active member in ACDA or a state organization such as NDMEA
- Experience with community and school outreach for music
- Experience with a wide range of repertoire (i.e., classical, contemporary, multicultural, etc.)
Experience with concert planning, budgeting, and event coordination
