Position Summary
The College of Arts and Sciences, The State University of New York at Buffalo, seeks to hire a non-tenure-track Clinical Assistant Professor (in house title: Assistant Teaching Professor) to teach undergraduate courses in support of the Social Sciences Interdisciplinary Degree Programs (IDP) major in Health & Human Services.
The successful candidate should be able to design and deliver courses focused on topics such as child development; issues in mental health; trauma-informed care; and/or human services leadership, as well as other courses in their area of expertise within child and family studies and/or community mental health. Applicants should review the curricular offerings and identify in their Teaching Statement which courses they would be prepared to teach. In addition to teaching, the successful candidate will help to recruit and mentor students in the program.
IDP is an undergraduate program consisting of five interdisciplinary degree programs (Health & Human Services; Urban & Public Policy Studies; International Studies; Legal Studies; and Cognitive Science) that draw courses from across 27 academic departments in the Social Sciences, Humanities, and the Natural Sciences within the College of Arts and Sciences (CAS).
This is a 10-month appointment. The teaching load for a Clinical Assistant Professor is four courses per semester (eight courses across the fall and spring semesters). The initial appointment will be for a two-year term with possible reappointment.

Minimum Qualifications
- Master of Social Work (M.S.W.) or a masters degree in a related discipline
- Demonstrated record of teaching excellence and/or exemplary professional leadership in health and human services.
- Demonstrated success in undergraduate teaching
- Excellent communication skills and a collaborative spirit; the successful candidate will be an approachable and collegial colleague who is actively engaged in the life of the program, accessible to students beyond the classroom, and committed to contributing to the programs growth and the UB community.
Preferred Qualifications
- A doctoral degree in social work, public health, human services, or a closely related field is preferred.
