Job description
The Department of Mechanical Engineering & Mechanics invites applications for a non-tenure-track and non-tenured teaching faculty position with a specialization in Solid Mechanics, Design, and/or Manufacturing, with an anticipated start date of July 1, 2026. This position is a renewable, fixed-term, non-tenure-track, full-time position. The initial term of appointment is three years.
The individual hired will be expected to teach core undergraduate courses, such as mechanics, strength of materials, mechanical design, manufacturing, and finite element analysis, as well as senior technical elective courses in their areas of interest. Teaching assignments may include both laboratory-based and lecture-based courses. Teaching faculty are also expected to advise undergraduate students, as well as participate in departmental, college, and/or university service.
While the position is not tenurable, Teaching Assistant Professors who develop excellent records in the areas of teaching and service are expected to become eligible for consideration for promotion to the rank of Teaching Associate Professor, and ultimately to the rank of Teaching Full Professor.
