Job description
The Psychology Faculty teaches assigned courses within the Social Science Department at Southwestern Michigan College. The instructor will also be responsible for the development/maintenance of a selection of courses in the Social Science Department.
The position involves teaching Psychology courses delivered face-to-face, morning and daytime, at the Niles and Dowagiac campuses, as well as through dual-enrollment programs at local high schools.
Required Qualifications:
- Master’s degree with at least 18 semester credit hours of graduate coursework in Psychology.
- Excellent organizational and communication skills
Preferred Qualifications:
- Doctorate degree in Psychology or related field
- Previous college teaching experience
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Instructs high quality face to face, hybrid, and online program courses.
- Designs, develops, and implements select Psychology course content within established course guidelines and the college’s quality principles.
- Maintains current course outlines, objectives, and evaluation mechanisms for the courses/program
- Assists in the development, maintenance, and assessment of Psychology program(s); Recommends curricular changes as necessary.
- Fulfills academic responsibilities as outlined in the CBA.
- Maintains rigor and relevancy of program content and assures compliance/alignment with various partners and stake holders.
- Utilizes active and collaborative learning strategies and a variety of other pedagogies to engage learners.
- Maintains standing in the subject matter by remaining current and connected to the industry/field/employers.
- Demonstrates a deep commitment to every student’s success.
- Mentors Psychology Department adjunct faculty.
