Position Summary:
Assistant Professor/Instructor of Digital Content Creation. This is a full time position in the Communication and Media Studies Department within the College of Arts & Humanities. The assistant professor position is tenure-track.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Develop and teach a variety of undergraduate courses.
Effectively advise and mentor students at the undergraduate level.
Engage students in high impact learning practices.
Cultivate and continue a social media presence.
Provide meaningful service to the department, college, university, and profession.
Engage in assessment and continuous improvement of courses and curriculum.
Perform other duties assigned by the Department Head.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Demonstrated experience in social media and content creation.
Excellent communication skills, strong interpersonal skills, and a history of working effectively with colleagues.
Minimum Requirements:
Proven experience in social media as either an independent content creator or social media manager.
For Assistant Professor position: PhD or MFA in a content creation related field such as communication, media studies, social media, digital marketing, journalism, film production, theatre, or related field (ABD accepted with expected completion date by February 15, 2027).
For Instructor position: Masters in a content creation related field such as communication, media studies, social media, digital marketing, journalism, film production, theatre, or related field.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience in short and long-form video creation.
Experience as a social media manager in industry.
Experience in other social media forms such as blogs or podcasts.
Experience teaching at the college/university level.
Work Location, Environment, and Physical Demands:
This position is located in offices and classrooms at ATU.
The position is assigned a desk and computer in location that may be in a different building than classroom locations, so the position requires the ability change locations and/or walk moderate distances during the day.
