Job description

The Jefferson College of Nursing at Thomas Jefferson University is accepting applications for part-time (20 hours per week) employed faculty for the College of Nursing’s Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner Graduate Program. Interested applicants must possess visionary, creative leadership skills to provide implementation of nursing curriculum within the graduate program. The primary role of this position is to ensure academic integrity in areas of planning, implementation, and evaluation of the curriculum and learning experiences of students in classroom, laboratory/simulation, and clinical settings.As a faculty member, the applicant must have enthusiasm for teaching future advanced practice nurses in the classroom, clinical skills and online environment. Faculty members serve as advisors and mentor for students and participate in college meetings and committees. Current practice, scholarship and service to the community are desired. Strong communication and relationship building skills are essential.The position participates in advising students, curriculum development, program evaluation, teaching in the classroom, evaluation of student achievement in accordance with the mission, core values, and purposes of the College and University. Responsibilities include: • Collaborating with nurse practitioner faculty for course planning/projections• Identifying needed resources; and overseeing selection of clinical preceptors and clinical sites, and student clinical placement and progression• Collaborate with Chair of Programs, Associate Deans, Dean, and support services to achieve program outcomes.• Utilizing contemporary and innovative teaching methodologies in classroom, laboratory/simulation, and clinical settings• Serve on College committee(s) as assigned• Participate in College and University activities throughout the year• Demonstrate evidence of ongoing clinical competency• Participate in professional activities related to area of clinical expertise• Participate in scholarly activities, apart from personal academic pursuits• Participate in recruitment activities of the College and UniversityInteracts with co-workers, visitors, and other staff consistent with the core values of the Enterprise.

Job Description

Qualifications:

• MSN from an accredited institution is required. A Doctoral Degree is preferred. Candidates who do not currently have a doctoral degree must be enrolled in a doctoral program at an accredited institution.

• Certified Registered Nurse Practitioner (CRNP) required, Psych Mental Health Nurse Practitioner

• Eligible/current for licensure to practice professional nursing in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania

• Previous teaching experience preferred

• Knowledge and skills related to innovative teaching methodologies, curriculum development, evaluation, and supporting students in their journey to become

advanced practice nurses or willingness to plan for acquisition of these skills.

This is a salaried position with a generous benefit and retirement program. Academic appointment and salary will be commensurate with experience.
