Job description
A. T. Still University’s Kirksville College of Osteopathic Medicine (ATSU-KCOM) is seeking an exempt, part-time Assistant Professor Anatomy on the Kirksville, MO campus. This position reports to the Associate Dean for Academic Affairs and the Dean KCOM. The Assistant Professor Anatomy will teach courses in the KCOM Anatomy Department which might include Histology, Pathology, Embryology, and Human Gross and Developmental Anatomy for medical students both including lecture and laboratory components. This position will also perform basic science research and other scholarly activity and contribute to the academic mission of ATSU.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Participate in the teaching mission of the department.
- Perform independent research/scholarly activity.
- Contribute to the academic mission of the University through professional service at the University level and in professional organizations at the local, regional, national and/or international level.
- Other duties as assigned by the department chair, associate dean or dean
Requirements
Education & Experience
- DO, MD, or PhD required.
- One to two years teaching experience in a medical and/or dental setting.
- Experience with budgets, basic computer experience. Administrative experience helpful.
- Formal training in Anatomy.
- Must have excellent communication skills and strong interpersonal skills.
- Must be able to work efficiently both as a team member, and as an independent worker.
- Needs good organizational skills and ability to prioritize tasks.
- Must be able to manage multiple tasks concurrently.
- Must be tactful and work well within a larger organization.
- Needs well-developed problem-solving skills.
Personal Characteristics or Traits
- Must work well without direct supervision.
- Must accept responsibility, but know when to ask for help or advice.
- Must be self-correcting in terms of achieving goals.
- Should be personable, non-judgmental, patient and work well with others.
- Needs to have a natural interest in medical education.
