Job Description
Job Summary:
This posting will establish and maintain a pool of part-time lecturers with experience teaching Geography and Environmental Science courses for the Department of Geography & Environmental Sciences in the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences at the University of Colorado Denver. By submitting your application, you will become part of an applicant pool. Candidates hired from this pool will fill temporary, non-tenure track positions and will teach no more than two courses per semester. Appointments will be part-time (less than 50%) and will be made semester-by-semester, depending on the needs of the department and subject to budgetary approval. Therefore, this posting does not necessarily reflect a current open position. The Department of Geography & Environmental Sciences will contact you if there is an opening that suits your qualifications.

Qualifications you already possess (Minimum Qualifications)
Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire.

Masters degree in Geography, Environmental Science, or a related field from an accredited university

Preferred Qualification to possess (Preferred Qualifications)

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Previous teaching experience.
  • PhD in Geography, Environmental Science, or related field.

Conditions of Employment

  • Occasional work during the evening and/or weekends may be required.
  • This position follows a hybrid work structure where employees can work remotely or from the office, as needed, based on demands of specific tasks or personal work preferences. Working from the office is encouraged when working on tasks that require a high degree of collaboration.

Mental, Physical, and/or Environmental Requirements

  • The ability to sit for extended periods, stand and walk occasionally, reach with hands and arms, use hands to manipulate a keyboard and mouse, and have good near vision for computer work; often requiring minimal lifting, but may involve bending or reaching to retrieve items from shelves or drawers.
  • The ability to walk between buildings on campus to teach courses.

Compensation and Benefits
The hiring range for this position has been established at $1,667 per credit hour (undergraduate course), or $1,808 per credit hour (graduate course).
The salary of the finalist(s) selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, experience, education, specialty, and training.
The above salary range (or hiring range) represents the University’s good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.
This position is not eligible for overtime compensation.
