Job description

The Film and Television Studies Program at the University of Vermont seeks a generalist in film and television studies for a non-tenure-track, full-time lecturer position. This position has a teaching load of four courses per semester for the Academic Year 2027-2028 and may be renewed yearly based on performance. The successful applicant will teach both introductory film history courses and the intermediate film theory course, which is required for the major. Applicants must be willing and able to energetically teach the large lecture courses of over one hundred students in the history of cinema and other special topics courses. Applicants must also have experience teaching film theory courses. The program would be excited to have the applicant teach a course in their research area as well. The UVM Film and Television Studies Program strives for a diverse faculty and scope of teaching.

The Department

The Film and Television Studies Program is a stand-alone program housed in the English Department at the University of Vermont. It is dedicated to producing critical media thinkers and producers who are capable of working and contributing to our increasingly diverse and technologically sophisticated society. The Film and Television Studies major and minor provide a background in film and television theory, history, and production.

The Community
