Open-Rank, Tenure Track Faculty Position in AI and Ethics

The College of Arts, Sciences and Education (CASE) at Florida International University (FIU) invites applications for an open-rank, tenure track faculty position in Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Ethics, to begin Fall 2026. We seek a scholar whose research and teaching address the ethical and societal implications of AI and related technologies. This position is open to candidates from any discipline, including but not limited to philosophy, social, life and natural sciences, biomedical ethics and public policy. The home/tenure department will be determined based on expertise.

Job responsibilities include:

  • Conducting interdisciplinary research on ethical issues in AI, such as fairness, bias, privacy, accountability, and social impact.
  • Vigorous pursuit of external research support.
  • Teaching undergraduate and graduate courses in AI ethics, philosophy of science, technology, data ethics, or related areas.
  • Collaborating across departments and colleges to advance responsible AI research and education.
  • Mentoring students and contributing to curriculum development and review in interdisciplinary programs.
  • Engaging in service and outreach to promote ethical AI practices within and beyond the university.
  • Providing service to the academic and professional community.

Qualifications include a Ph.D. in a relevant discipline, demonstrated expertise in AI and Ethics, with a record of interdisciplinary research and teaching, external research support commensurate with career stage, and an ability to collaborate across disciplines and contribute to the university’s strategic priorities.
