The Master of Physician’s Assistant Program at St. Catherine University invites applications for a 12-month full-time Ranked Principal MPAS Faculty position.

The MPAS Program seeks a collaborative, innovative, and student-centered educator who will contribute to the delivery of high-quality physician assistant education including program assessment, evaluation, and continuous quality improvement. The successful candidate will work closely with the Program Director, Medical Director, Curriculum Director, and faculty team to support student success, curricular excellence, and ongoing assessment and accreditation compliance.

Primary Responsibilities

This position encompasses three major areas of responsibility:

1. Didactic Teaching – 60%

The faculty member will provide instruction in areas of expertise and program need, with a primary emphasis on clinical medicine, history-taking and physical examination skills, and primary care practice. Responsibilities include:

• Teaching in classroom, laboratory, simulation, and small-group settings
• Facilitating active learning and case-based educational experiences
• Assessing student performance and providing timely feedback
• Assisting with curriculum development, implementation, and revision
• Supporting student scholarly, quality improvement, and capstone projects as assigned

2. Assessment and Evaluation – 20%

The faculty member will participate in the implementation, management, and continuous improvement of the program’s comprehensive assessment and evaluation system. Responsibilities include:

• Participating in programmatic assessment activities to measure student learning outcomes, curricular effectiveness, and program performance
• Collecting, analyzing, interpreting, and reporting assessment and evaluation data
• Monitoring student progression, academic performance, and remediation outcomes
• Supporting continuous quality improvement initiatives through data-informed decision making
• Collaborating with faculty and the Program Director to develop and implement assessment strategies aligned with program outcomes
• Preparing reports, dashboards, and documentation to support accreditation activities and institutional reporting requirements
• Ensuring assessment and evaluation processes remain aligned with ARC-PA Standards and University expectations
• Supporting accreditation readiness and ongoing compliance efforts

3. Student support and development – 15%

• Participating in student advising, mentoring, remediation, and academic support
• Supporting student scholarly, quality improvement, and capstone projects as assigned
• Facilitating student professional development, including career advising, leadership development, and preparation for clinical practice and certification examinations.
• Promoting student engagement, well-being, and inclusivity through collaboration with faculty, staff, and university support services.

Additional Faculty Responsibilities – 5%

Faculty members are expected to actively contribute to the academic mission of the MPAS Program and St. Catherine University through:

• Participation in student admissions, recruitment, and selection activities
• Serve in program, school, and university committees, including faculty governance
• Engagement in scholarly activity and professional development
• Participation in faculty meetings, retreats, and strategic planning initiatives
• Collaboration with clinical partners and interprofessional colleagues
• Maintenance of professional certification, licensure, and clinical expertise

The selected individual will demonstrate a commitment to collaborative education, innovation in teaching and assessment, and to preparing compassionate, competent physician assistants dedicated to serving diverse communities.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Applicants must possess a master’s degree or doctoral degree in a health-related discipline.
• Physician Assistant Candidates
• Current NCCPA certification
• Current Minnesota PA license or eligibility for licensure in Minnesota
• Minimum of two years of clinical practice experience
• Physician, Nurse Practitioner, or Other Allied Health Candidates
• Current professional certification and/or licensure in discipline
• Minnesota licensure or eligibility for licensure
• Minimum of two years of professional clinical experience

Preferred Qualifications:

• Previous teaching experience in higher education, health professions education, or clinical training programs
• Experience with assessment, program evaluation, outcomes measurement, or accreditation processes
• Familiarity with ARC-PA standards and accreditation requirements
• Experience in curriculum development and instructional design
• Experience mentoring students in academic or clinical environments, including research, scholarly, quality improvement, or capstone projects
• Demonstrated scholarly activity, including presentations, publications, or research
