Job description
Delaware Valley University invites applications for the role of Vice President for Advancement, a senior leader reporting directly to the President and serving as a key member of the President’s Cabinet. This is a strategic opportunity for an experienced advancement professional to shape a growing culture of philanthropy and lead DelVal’s fundraising and alumni engagement efforts.
The Vice President provides vision, leadership, and operational oversight for Development and Alumni Affairs, including major and annual giving, donor relations, alumni engagement, advancement operations, and campaign planning and execution. The role manages a team of ten and maintains a portfolio of major gift prospects.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead a comprehensive, mission-aligned advancement strategy.
- Build strong relationships with donors, alumni, foundations, and community partners.
- Partner with the President and Board of Trustees on philanthropic priorities.
- Oversee major gift work, donor stewardship, alumni programming, and advancement operations.
- Lead the development of current and future comprehensive and special campaigns.
- Serve as a campus leader in strategic planning and institutional initiatives.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s preferred.
- 8-10 years of development/advancement leadership experience, ideally in higher education.
- Proven major gift and campaign success.
- At least five years of management experience leading advancement teams.
- Strong communication skills, strategic thinking, and an entrepreneurial mindset.
- Familiarity with donor databases (e.g., Raiser’s Edge).
