Founded in 1754, Columbia University is one of the world’s most important centers of research, and, at the same time, a distinctive and distinguished learning environment for undergraduates and graduate students in many scholarly and professional fields. The University recognizes the importance of its location in New York City and seeks to link its research and teaching to the vast resources of a great metropolis. Columbia University is the oldest institution of higher education in New York, and the fifth oldest in the United States. These include three undergraduate schools, fifteen graduate and professional schools, a world-renowned medical center, four affiliated colleges and seminaries, twenty-five libraries, and more than one hundred research centers and institutes.
University Development and Alumni Relations advances Columbia’s highest academic and institutional priorities and ensures ongoing financial resources for the University through fundraising while fostering an enthusiastic and engaged community of alumni who serve as ambassadors for Columbia and its mission. Functionally, University Development and Alumni Relations partners with academic leaders to build relationships and secure philanthropic support; directs and leads University-wide fundraising campaigns; leads centralized advancement support services; assists University leadership with events and outreach; administers the Columbia Alumni Association; and oversees alumni engagement and communications. The Office of University Development and Alumni Relations also serves as a central resource for stewardship and gift planning and leads the University-wide Annual Giving Day.

Columbia University will consider candidates with a broad range of backgrounds. If you are excited about this role and feel that you can contribute to Columbia, but your experience does not exactly align with every qualification listed above, we encourage you to apply. The target salary for this position is $900,000. Columbia University offers a comprehensive package of benefits, including medical, dental, and vision insurance, retirement plan options, tuition assistance programs, family building support, and an Employee Assistance Program.
