We are looking for candidates with proven teaching experience in principles and, ideally, intermediate macroeconomics. The successful candidate is expected to have taught several distinct courses and shown excellence, expertise, and enthusiasm. We need someone who can add depth and breadth to the Department’s course offerings and participate in the senior thesis program.

The successful candidate is expected to have a Ph.D. in Economics. The successful candidate must demonstrate a genuine desire to teach and participate fully in a liberal arts environment that emphasizes close student-faculty interactions. Kalamazoo College offers a two-course-per-term teaching load and this current position is for two terms or four courses total.

Kalamazoo College has made a commitment to inclusive excellence. We especially encourage applications from candidates whose intellectual and pedagogical approaches to the discipline will be effective in attracting and retaining historically underrepresented students. The successful applicant will demonstrate a strong commitment to working with students, faculty and staff from diverse social, cultural, and economic backgrounds.

Kalamazoo College is a liberal arts college offering an integrated undergraduate experience that weaves a traditional liberal arts curriculum into educational experiences and civic engagement in both domestic and international settings. As such, it attracts students from diverse backgrounds interested in social justice and activism. The College is a member of the Posse Program and home to the Arcus Center for Social Justice Leadership. It is in Kalamazoo, Michigan, a diverse and vibrant city in south-western Michigan and home of the first nationwide city-based college tuition remission program, the Kalamazoo Promise. Sitting halfway between Chicago and Detroit, Kalamazoo is in a metropolitan community of 225,000 which contains a major state university along with numerous civic arts and cultural associations. Thirty-five miles from the beautiful beaches and coastal towns of Lake Michigan, the area also offers many opportunities for outdoor activities.
