AUPP was established in 2013 as a Cambodian university (license) with an American curriculum. There were three founders who envisioned a new university that would meet international standards and be based on the US educational system.
AUPP began operations in 2013 grounded on several principles: highly qualified senior managers; experienced administrators with administrative skills and experience in academic affairs; faculty with doctorates from U.S. or other Western countries, and teaching experience in Western institutions; undergraduate curriculum that meets U.S. accreditation requirements for a balance between liberal arts education and appropriate coursework for the major; and the recruitment of students who aspire to high levels of achievement.
The international Board of Trustees (BoT) was formed to direct the course of the University and oversee its development. The Board is composed of American educators, executives of higher education institutions in the U.S., and business executives from Cambodia and around the globe. The BoT is dedicated to making AUPP a leading higher education institution in Cambodia, fostering socially responsible behavior, lifelong learning, academic and professional excellence among students.
AUPP’s new campus, opened in 2017, was designed to feature model classroom environments, digital learning platforms, a Teaching & Learning Center, a state-of-the-art library, sport facilities, and student activities that complement academic offerings. The campus environment allows students to develop their potential and acquire the education relevant for 21st century competitiveness.
The students attending AUPP are impressive. They have a strong desire to improve Cambodia and to make a mark on its development. They are bright, and they are drivers of change. They come from all over Cambodia, and increasingly from other countries. AUPP provides scholarships for students based on merit and financial need.
Since 2016, AUPP has signed agreements for dual degrees with the University of Arizona and Fort Hays State University. The University of Arizona dual degree programs are in our School of Business and School of Law. The Fort Hays State University dual degree programs are in our School of Digital Technologies, School of Business, and School of Social Sciences.
AUPP is fully accredited from 2019 to 2028 (https://www.aupp.edu.kh/aupp-license-and-accreditation/). The institutional accreditation covers all degree programs as part of the national standards.
The enduring accomplishments set AUPP on its mission as a model university in human capital development to assist Cambodia in the Pentagonal Strategy and Digital Skill Development Roadmap and to cultivate global citizenship for a more equitable world.
