Job Summary/Basic Function:
To serve as an active Women’s Health researcher and act as a research mentor for the department. The successful candidate will report to the Chair of Obstetrics and Gynecology and hold a faculty appointment at the Assistant Professor, Associate Professor or Professor rank relative to qualifications. This is a 12 month, non-tenure track faculty position. The position includes clinical practice through the faculty practice plan and provides for a minimum 20-40% of time dedicated to conduct research, mentoring other department faculty, residents and medical students in developing and pursuing their research. Experience in secondary analysis of existing data sets and/or analysis of publicly available data sets is highly desired. The Department of Ob/Gyn wishes to further its reputation in Ob/Gyn research. The department currently employs a PhD Ob/Gyn Research Director and has collaborative relationships with several basic science PhD researchers. Wright State University, Boonshoft School of Medicine and Premier Health have jointly developed the Clinical Trials Research Alliance (CTRA) to advance the academic reputation of both institutions. Current research activities include clinical and translational studies across a range of obstetric and gynecologic conditions. The department has a track record of conducting trials with AbbVie, Bayer, MyoVant, GSK, Progenity, and the Patty Brisben Foundation for Women’s Sexual Health, and actively seeks new opportunities either industry or investigator initiated. Both residents and medical students actively engage in research projects with faculty mentors in the department to meet requirements for graduation.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
1. M.D., MBBS or D.O. degree.
2. Board Certification in Obstetrics and Gynecology / Ob/Gyn sub-specialty.
3. Unrestricted Ohio medical license (current or eligible).
4. DEA Registration Number.
5. Assistant Prof: Minimum 5-years post-residency clinical experience; Assoc Prof: Minimum 7-years post-residency clinical experience; Prof: Minimum 9-years post-residency clinical experience.
6. Proven track record of research/academic productivity.
7. Minimum of 3 professional references will be required prior to an on-campus interview.
Candidate possesses interest and ability in clinical/classroom education & clinical/translational research and,
1. Experience working in an academic position with combined clinical, teaching, and research experience.
2. Proven ability to obtain external funding for research.
3. Ability/Willingness to cover In-house Ob/Gyn service call.
4. Experience in secondary analysis of existing data sets and/or analysis of publicly available data sets is highly desired.
5. Candidates with additional training in research methodologies (MD/PhD, MD/MS Medical Research, MD/MPH, and/or fellowship training in MIGS, Family Planning, etc) are strongly encouraged to apply.
Essential Functions and percent of time:
20% or greater: Protected research time; 30-40%: Education/supervision of medical students & residents; 35-40%: Private practice activity, night call. The above percentages are negotiable based on interests and extramural funding.
Miami Valley Hospital and/or lab; Wright State University lab; Five Rivers Health Center for Women’s Healthcare; Wright State Physicians Private Practice. Support of this position includes clinical support in the form of scheduling and billing staff along with at least one RN/MA for your work with Wright State Physicians. This position will also receive support from an administrative assistant, shared by several physicians. Administrative support for the department and practice activities is provided by the Department Chair and the Site (Practice) Manager.
This is an externally funded position with continuation dependent on funding. Special contract terms and conditions of employment apply.
