Position Summary

The Department of Cell Biology and Physiology at the University of New Mexico School of Medicine ( http://cbp.unm.edu/index.html) is seeking a tenure-track Assistant Professor to build and sustain an active research program in cancer biology with special emphasis on angiogenesis, oxidative stress, inflammation, cell metabolism or tumorigenesis, and a strong interest in basic biomedical research. Departmental research programs focus on cancer genetics and signaling, cardiovascular and renal disease, and neurodegeneration, and synergize with UNM Health Sciences Center signature programs ( https://hsc.unm.edu/research/research-centers/si gnature-researchprograms/index.html).

The successful candidate will benefit from the exceptional opportunities for synergism and interactions with the UNM HSC signature programs, members of the four basic science departments, and the NIH NCI-designated UNM Comprehensive Cancer Center ( http://cancer.unm.edu/).

Appointment will be in the Department of Cell Biology and Physiology, at the rank of Assistant Professor. The successful applicant will develop a rigorous and independent research program and participate in departmental activities including graduate and medical school teaching.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Ph.D., M.D. or equivalent
  • Postdoctoral experience

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Independent research program, or strong potential for obtaining R01 or
    equivalent funding, as evidenced by funding history, high quality publications,
    and research plan
  • Applicants working in the area of cancer biology whose research interests and expertise would have potential for research interactions with department members
  • Potential for participating in institutional educational activities
