The University of Nottingham Ningbo China (UNNC) was the first Sino-foreign university to open its doors in China. Located in Ningbo, this award winning campus offering a UK style education has grown to establish a student body of over 7,000 in just 12 years.

The School of Economics at UNNC was established in 2009. It currently offers a ‘BSc International Economics and Trade’ and comprises 11 full time members of academic staff. The student population is 300, with a planned increase to 400 in the near future. The first cohort of Economics students graduated in July 2014; among them, more than 70 percent proceeded with further studies in well recognised Universities of English-speaking countries. The next stage will see the School offer two new programmes of study, a ‘BSc Economics’ and an ‘MSc Economics’. All programmes match the well-established programmes running in the UK and benefit from shared resources across campuses. Though relatively new to UNNC, The School of Economics has already developed an enviable reputation, thanks also to the close integration with its sister schools in the UK and Malaysia leading to intense collaboration in research and teaching activities. In particular, Nottingham’s well recognised Centre for Research on Globalisation and Economic Policy (GEP) has established a branch at the Ningbo campus, where it holds an annual international conference, as well as workshops and regular seminars series.

Candidates with research and teaching interests in any area of economics are encouraged to apply. Candidates are expected to have a PhD in Economics or Econometrics, an excellent research potential with a developing publications record, and some teaching experience at University level.

The successful candidate will be expected to conduct individual or collaborative research projects leading to publication in high quality, international journals; to deliver challenging and innovative teaching at both undergraduate and postgraduate level, and to assist with the administration of the School.

Salary will be within the range of £34,956 – £46,924 per annum depending on skills and experience (salary progression beyond this is subject to performance). In addition, an attractive package including accommodation allowance, travel allowance and insurance will be provided for international appointments.

The post will initially be offered on a fixed term contract with the University of Nottingham,Ningbo, China for a period of up to 5 years starting 1 September 2017. This contractmay be extended on an indefinite basis by mutual agreement.
