Assistant Professor of Arts
Full-time (9-months) – Tenure Track

The successful candidate will teach high quality undergraduate courses and lead Applied initiatives, within the existing Foundations of the program, teaching the curriculum while also contributing to the strength and energy of the Department of Art as a whole. Applicants should have a strong professional record and possess knowledge of a wide variety of interdisciplinary art-making strategies centering on and intersecting with the, interactive multimedia, digital culture and design, animation, cyber culture, web design and development, or other hybrid and emerging art forms. They will participate in BA reviews and serve on thesis and university committees. The ability to work collegially and productively with others is an essential aspect of the position. The major exposes students to both non-technical and the technical aspects of multimedia development. Service obligations will include student mentoring, undergraduate advising, supervision of student-related activities, and committee service at the Departmental, College, and/or University level. Regular, reliable, and non-disruptive attendance is an essential job duty, as is the ability to create and maintain collegial, harmonious working relationships with others. This position teach a 12-hour course-load (total of four courses per semester) while maintaining an active and significant involvement with faculty development and community relations.
Faculty will provide classroom management including: instruction in certified area, student grading, a course syllabus for each assigned class, and posted office hours; attend and participate in University and departmental meetings; serve on University and department committees; demonstrate skills in area of expertise as an artist.
Master of Fine Arts with emphasis in Multimedia/Digital and Graphic design; experience in digital video production and audio would be helpful; active and significant exhibition; active professional work in field record; evidence of excellence in teaching; broad advanced knowledge of time-based digital software such as Adobe Creative Cloud, common in contemporary art and design; experience with curriculum program expansion and development; experience and evidence of excellence in teaching at multiple levels; demonstrated commitment to an interdisciplinary approach to teaching and personal practice; demonstrated commitment to student mentoring; demonstrated commitment to community engagement.
