The Department of Finance and Business Law in the College of Business at James Madison University (JMU) invites applications for a tenure track assistant professor in Business Law. The appointment begins fall 2019.
About the Department: The Finance and Business Law Department is staffed by 18 full-time faculty with 14 faculty in finance and 4 in Business Law. The department serves both Finance and Quantitative Finance majors and college business law courses. FIN & BLAW faculty have received numerous awards and recognitions for outstanding teaching, service, and research.
About the College: The AACSB-accredited James Madison University College of Business includes nationally ranked undergraduate and graduate programs. Five years post-graduation, Virginia residents attending the CoB had the highest return-on-investment of the 82 business schools included in Poets&Quants 2017 undergraduate business program ranking. In 2018, the Information Security MBA was recognized as #1 in the nation for the Best Online Information Security MBA Programs, and #16 in the Princeton Review’s list of the top 25 Online MBA Programs. Duties and Responsibilities:
The successful candidate will join a dedicated team of Finance and Business Law faculty providing instruction in the business curriculum. Candidates will be expected to teach business law classes at the undergraduate level.
The normal teaching load will be 3/3, i.e., three 3-credit courses each semester during the regular academic year. In addition to teaching, this position requires general service to the institution and the ability to maintain professional qualifications.
The main requirements are:
- J.D. In addition a master degree in business is preferred.
- Evidence of professional qualifications and engagement in accordance with AACSB standards.
- Demonstration of teaching effectiveness, excellent communication skills, and a commitment to high-quality scholarly research.
Pay Rate: Commensurate with Experience
