Job description

The Department of Finance and Business Law in the College of Business at James Madison University (JMU) anticipates hiring a tenure-track assistant professor to begin Fall 2019.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Teaching needs include Financial Analysis, Corporate Finance, Insurance, and Real Estate Analytics. Normal teaching load is three 3-credit courses per semester during the regular academic year. The successful candidate will be expected to engage regularly in service to the department, the college, the university, and the profession.


Applicants should have a Ph.D. in Finance (or ABD in a Ph.D. program in Finance with a dissertation defense by December 2019), preferably from an AACSB-accredited institution. CFA or FRM designation is a plus. Demonstrated evidence of teaching effectiveness, excellent communication skills, and a commitment to scholarly research are required.

Pay Rate: Commensurate with Experience
