Heriot-Watt University is known for its research-informed course delivery and the global multi-campus education it provides. ICIT delivers postgraduate teaching to a multinational cohort of students. The successful applicant will have a background in engineering, physics or related fields and be expected to deliver courses across in renewable energy technologies and their integration into energy systems. The post will suit candidates who enjoy working as part of a multidisciplinary team.

Heriot-Watt is a research intensive university, with the School of Energy, Geoscience, Infrastructure and Society achieving world-leading status in the UK’s Research Excellence Framework (REF) exercise of 2014. The successful candidate will be expected to make a substantive contribution to the next research assessment process. The role is particularly appropriate for applicants with an interest in the application and integration of renewable energy technologies into energy systems. However applications are also encouraged from candidates with research interests in environmental interactions of renewable energy devices, particularly marine energy technologies.

Applicants must have a good record of high quality publications and possess excellent team working and communication skills. Previous teaching experience, a strong commitment to the student experience, and evidence of innovation in teaching delivery at undergraduate and postgraduate levels is highly desirable.

The candidate will be a graduate in engineering, physics or related sciences with a doctorate in a renewable energy, energy systems or a closely related field. However candidates falling outside these parameters may be considered if they have significant industrial or practical experience in the field.

An appointment will be made at either Grade 7 (£32,236-£39,609) or Grade 8 (£40,792-£48,677) depending on the skills and experience of the successful candidate.
