ASSISTANT PROFESSOR- SPANISH- (tenure track) – The Department of English and Modern Languages at Missouri Western State University invites applications for an Assistant Professor of Spanish to begin August 2019. The field of specialization is open, with a preference for a candidate specializing in Central American, Mexican, or Hispano-Caribbean literature.
REQUIRED: A Ph.D. in Spanish from an accredited institution must be in hand by August 1, 2019 (ABD candidates will be considered); native or near-native fluency in Spanish and English; evidence of excellence in teaching, and the ability to work effectively with a diverse student body.
PREFERRED: The successful candidate will be dedicated to teaching undergraduates in a liberal arts setting and will demonstrate a commitment to professional development. Active membership in a department that is committed to the innovative teaching of language and literature in cultural context is expected. Normal teaching load is eight courses per academic year, and includes a combination of language, literature, and culture classes. Interest in teaching a broad range of courses is expected.
