Holy Names University in Oakland, CA is seeking qualified applicants to become Dean of the School of Business and Applied Social Sciences beginning January 1, 2019. The School of Business and Applied Social Sciences at Holy Names University encompasses seven undergraduate majors (in Accounting, Business, Criminology, International Relations, Politics & History, Psychology, Sociology), and four graduate degree programs (in Counseling and Forensic Psychology, Educational Therapy and an MBA). All programs emphasize the core values of the Holy Names Sisters, including the full development of the human person, a dedication to social justice, and service to people who are poor or marginalized. As the chief academic and administrative officer charged with advancing these core values for the School, the Dean is responsible for oversight of all academic and instructional services through the management and oversight of budgets, contracts, scheduling and personnel. In addition, the Dean will provide academic leadership to foster a commitment to excellence in teaching, service and scholarship amongst the faculty and for developing and implementing an educational vision for the School that advances its reputation throughout the Bay Area. Applicants should have a PhD in Business or one of the Social Sciences and have a minimum of 4 years administrative experience in higher education. Some university teaching experience is preferred.
