Job description

Oklahoma State University seeks a Head of the Department of Theatre, at the rank of Associate or Full Professor, to represent the unit in an exciting time of growth and expansion for the arts on campus. The appointment is full-time with an eleven-month contract and begins July 1, 2019, or as negotiated. Salary is competitive and commensurate with experience and credentials. The Head reports directly to the Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences. Responsibilities include but are not limited to: oversight of all fiscal, curricular, and personnel matters; programmatic and outreach development; partnering in fundraising efforts; serving as producer for the production season.; and teaching/production within an area of specialization such as design, technology, performance, arts management, or theatre studies, among others.

The Head will provide artistic and fiscal guidance for a growing department that consists of bachelor’s degrees in Theatre and Arts Management and minors in Theatre, Dance, and Arts Entrepreneurship. The Head will be a liaison to the university administration, the College of Arts and Sciences, the campus, and the community. Qualifications: The successful candidate will have a terminal degree in Theatre or Arts Management, either an MFA, DFA, PhD, or foreign equivalent; a record of successful teaching at the university level; evidence of demonstrated success in administration and management; awareness of NAST procedures; ongoing creative or scholarly achievement sufficient to warrant appointment at the appropriate rank. Grant writing and fundraising experience is desired. The successful candidate will be able to cultivate within the department a multicultural perspective that is inclusive of underrepresented students from multiple socio-economic perspectives.
