Department Summary:
The History Department at Bridgewater State University trains students to engage in a sustained investigation of the record of humanity’s existence. Its faculty represent a wide range of specializations in United States and European history, as well as the history of societies in Africa, East Asia, Canada, Latin America, and the Middle East. From this broad perspective, our students are trained to think critically about how human societies change over time and how people both in the past and in our own day have tried to make sense of that change. History students acquire skills in collecting, synthesizing, and evaluating information from diverse sources, as well as presenting it in support of a coherent interpretation of the past. The unique combination of content knowledge and skills represented in the discipline of history allows students to develop a sophisticated understanding of human nature and human potential.

Essential Duties:
This is a one-year, full-time, temporary, benefited position where the successful candidate will teach lower-division survey courses and upper-division lecture and seminar courses in U.S. history during the Colonial, Revolutionary, or Early Republic eras.

The successful candidate will teach four courses per semester, carry a full advising load and serve on departmental committees.

Required Qualifications:
Master’s degree in History required.

Teaching experience required.

Preferred Qualifications:
Ph.D. in History preferred
