The Director of Choral Activities at Saint Xavier University is a full-time non-tenure track annual position. All College of Arts and Sciences faculty members are expected to be dedicated to excellence in teaching and learning, be actively engaged, and committed to service in the College of Arts and Sciences and University.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
This individual will primarily be responsible for developing and providing leadership for the choral music education program and directing choral ensembles, teaching voice methods, applied voice lessons, choral conducting, and recruitment for the choral music program. Applicants should be able to teach all levels of K-12 education methods courses for choral music education majors. Preference will be given to candidates with demonstrated performance and pedagogy in applied instruction. Saint Xavier University is accredited by the National Association of Schools of Music.
To qualify for this full-time non-tenure-track one-year position, the candidate must have a Master’s degree in Music (doctorate preferred) and demonstrated success and experience teaching choral ensembles and voice at the secondary school and collegiate lever, evidence of successful professional experience in music, proven ability to work collaboratively with music colleagues, and demonstrated evidence of effective leadership and communication skills.
