Job Title: Director of Olympic Athletic Performance

Position Summary

Purpose of the job: Reporting to the Director of Athletic Training, the Director of Olympic Athletic Performance provides expertise, guidance, and training in the area of athletic development for all student-athletes participating in Olympic Sports at Houston Baptist University.

Job Responsibilities

1.Serves as a representative HBU, a Christian university, displaying courtesy, tact, consideration, and discretion in all interactions with other members of the HBU community and with the public.
2.Meets with coaching staff to design and implement program for developing athletic performance.
3.Conduct and monitor strength and conditioning programs for Olympic Sports with great emphasis on the safety of athletes.
4.Coordinates student-athlete rehabilitation with sports medicine; assists with rehabilitation of injured athletes and approves return to play.
5.Educates student-athletes about nutrition and supplements.
6.Coordinates, maintains, and staffs Sharp Gym strength facilities; assists in identifying and purchasing needed strength and conditioning equipment.
7.Maintains up-to-date records on the athletic performance of individual workouts of Olympic Sport student-athletes.
8.May be required to assist other sports in the area of athletic performance.
9.Performs other duties as assigned by the Director of Athletic Performance and Director of Athletics.

Other Duties And Responsibilities
1.Attends monthly compliance meetings.
2.Must comply with all conference and NCAA rules and regulations.

Fiscal Responsibility: None

Physical Demands: Heavy lifting required. Must be able to climb stairs. Must be able to operate all equipment within the athletic weight room.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree. Experience in strength and conditioning training for elite-level athletes. Knowledge of NCAA rules and compliance issues concerning the administration of intercollegiate athletics.

Additional Information

Working Conditions And Environment: Must be able to work nights and weekends. Must be able to work 40 plus hours per week as schedule demands.
