Job description

The Department of Kinesiology at Louisiana Tech University is seeking an Instructor of Kinesiology and Director of Human Performance Laboratories to begin September 1, 2018. The Director of the Human Performance Laboratories will teach classes within the Department and be responsible for the overall operation and function of the four laboratories in Memorial Gym.

Position
Non-tenure track Kinesiology Instructor and Director of Human Performance Laboratories, reporting to the Department Chair. Nine-month appointment (Teaching 50% and other areas 50%), with possibilities for teaching summer classes.

Primary Responsibilities
Teach undergraduate courses in personal and community health, preventative health and wellness, functional anatomy, adult fitness, first aid, and potentially other classes related to expertise. Perform direct supervision of operations and ensure function of equipment within the Human Performance Laboratories. Mentor graduate and undergraduate students in proper use of laboratory equipment. Develop and maintain the www.latechsportscience.org webpage.

Secondary Responsibilities
Engage in collaborative scholarly and/or service activities, most commonly involving human performance testing with youth, senior adult, and athletic populations. Advise undergraduate students. Serve as a secondary mentor for select graduate students during directed research projects. Serve on departmental, college, and university committees. Other duties assigned by the Department Chair.

Qualifications
Candidate must have a master’s degree or higher in Kinesiology or a closely related field; CPR & First Aid certification or equivalent; record of successful teaching in kinesiology and higher education; evidence of adequate experience with relevant laboratory instruments and human performance testing; evidence of scholarly achievement and service; experience in working with students and colleagues from multi-cultural backgrounds; evidence of ability to help graduate students develop a directed research project or thesis.
