Job Summary
The lecturer position in Social Sciences is responsible for teaching social sciences classes in research methods, social science theory, senior seminar, methods and material courses in social sciences/history education for pre-service and in-service teachers at the middle and high school levels. Depending on qualifications and need, additional courses in social sciences, sociology, anthropology, geography or history may be available as well. Clinical responsibilities include the supervision of student interns in secondary social science/history placements and providing all student advisement. Additional responsibilities include doing service at the departmental, college, university and community levels.

Minimum Qualifications
1. A Master’s degree in Education with concentration in General Social Science or Social Studies/Science Education
2. A minimum of three years teaching in public secondary schools.
3. Eligibility for Alabama teacher certification.

Preferred Qualifications
1. 6th Year Program/Ed.S. Education/General Social Sciences.
2. Teaching experience at the college or university level and on-line teaching experience.
