Essential Job Duties:
The Department of Health and Exercise Studies (HES) seeks applicants for a full-time non-tenure track faculty position at the rank of Lecturer or Teaching Assistant Professor for the upcoming Fall 2019 semester. The successful candidate will possess strong teaching and evaluation skills with an interest in physical fitness. Primary responsibilities include teaching an estimated eight credit hours per semester with a focus on scuba, and health and fitness related classes. Additional responsibilities will include equipment planning and procurement for areas of expertise, in addition to departmental and university committee participation.
Teaching courses in scuba will be the main focus, and physical fitness/skills courses as scheduling allows. Presenting at multiple professional workshops, clinics, conferences, or conventions appropriate to area of expertise during the appointment is expected at the Teaching Assistant Professor level.
Requires doctor’s degree, an equivalent degree, or equivalent professional experience.
Minimum of one year teaching experience as a scuba diver instructor. Active-status NAUI Instructor Certification required. Candidates should have expertise in teaching various specialties such as: enriched air nitrox, advanced rescue, boat diving operations, cavern/cave, technical diving, and leadership.
Doctorate in Physical Education, Recreation, or related field, or equivalent degree or equivalent. PMA Certified Teacher (or equivalent) or RYT 200 (or above) certifications are preferred. Experience teaching at the college or university level is preferred.
Required license or certification:
Current First Aid and CPR/AED certification is required and must be maintained. Active-status NAUI Instructor Certification required.
