Salary £22,494 p.a., plus a housing allowance of £10,000 p.a. or free accommodation.
Merton College proposes to elect a Peter J Braam Research Fellow in Global Wellbeing for three years commencing on 1 October 2018 or as soon as possible thereafter. This is a prestigious career development post which will provide a promising academic with opportunities to develop as a researcher. The postholder will be eligible for election as a Fellow of the College.
The main duties of the post will be to:
(i) Undertake independent research in a topic contributing to the solution of the most pressing global welfare problems facing the human race. These problems might be humanitarian, natural or political;
(ii) Contribute to the wider academic research projects in the University in the field of their research;
(iii) Undertake the wider duties and obligations of a Fellow of the College. The post holder may also, with the permission of Governing Body, undertake a limited amount of teaching.
The successful applicant will hold a doctorate in a relevant subject area and/or have published or forthcoming books or articles in refereed journals as appropriate to the candidate’s field, and must demonstrate achievement (commensurate with the candidate’s career) in research at a standard which will contribute to and enhance the national and international profile of the subject at Oxford. The postholder will also need to demonstrate willingness to contribute to Merton as a member of its Governing Body and commitment to a personal career development plan.
