Responsibilities:
Alfred University’s College of Liberal Arts & Sciences invites applications for a tenure-track position in the Division of Mathematics & Computer Science at the Assistant Professor level beginning August, 2019.

Responsibilities include teaching three four-credit courses per semester, including courses in the math major and the computer science minor.

Requirements:
A Ph.D. in mathematics at the time of appointment is preferred; ABD will be considered at the rank of Instructor. Well qualified candidates in all mathematics­ related areas will be considered.

The successful candidate will have a commitment to quality; innovative teaching; maintaining an active research program; and engaging with the life of the College.

Experience:

Teaching experience or post-secondary education in statistics, data science, computer science, and/or actuarial science is desirable, but not required.

Applicants should provide evidence of excellence in teaching; a desire to teach a diverse body of students in liberal arts, science, engineering, and business; and an ability to contribute to the Division’s curriculum and its extracurricular activities.

Application materials should include a cover letter that includes rationale for the desire to teach in a rural liberal arts setting, a curriculum vitae, a statement of teaching interests and experience, a description of research, and three confidential letters of reference, at least two of which address teaching. Official transcripts will be required for employment.
