Job Purpose:
Tri-County Technical College invites applicants to apply for the role of Dean for Academic and Career Foundations. The Dean for Academic and Career Foundations is responsible for leadership, management, and student success. The successful candidate should have the ability to serve, communicate with, and work with diverse populations. The Academic and Career Foundations division offers coursework and pathways to prepare students for college and career success. The candidate will be responsible for the I-BEST program and new programs developed throughout all phases of the implementation process. This role requires expertise in creating and designing programs and courses within a 2-year or 4- year institution that support the transition of under-resourced students. Knowledge and experience with designing workforce development programs and developing partnerships with local community resources is essential to the success of the programs and the population that we serve.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Program Design and Implementation: Lead and manage collaborative efforts to facilitate the design, pilot, and implementation of programs and services that support the transition of under-prepared and under-resourced students. Provide direct leadership for programs during launch and pilot phases and determine appropriate resources and structure for sustainability and scalability. Lead assessment of program launch and implementation processes to ensure lessons learned are addressed for continuous improvement.
- Developmental Curricula: Provide vision, leadership, and direction for developmental and transitional courses and instruction. Ensure instructional methodologies, assessment practices, technology resources, delivery modalities, and course scheduling deliver courses and curricula that encompass a comprehensive focus on the intellectual, social, and emotional growth of students. Engage with developmental educators regionally and nationally to anticipate trends and develop exemplary models of practice to remain on the leading edge of developmental education.
- Employee Accountability and Advocacy: Cultivate a high-performing team of faculty and staff and provide appropriate employee development, coaching, and evaluation. Maximize employee advocacy and accountability in order to facilitate employee engagement, development, and high performance. Direct the development and evaluation of department faculty and staff to ensure the division meets its goals through developing and empowering its people.
- Serve, as appropriate, on division and college committees and project teams. Develop and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders. Performs other activities or responsibilities as assigned.
Minimum and Additional Requirements
A master’s degree plus five (5) years of progressively responsible related leadership and teaching experience in education and developmental education. Demonstrated experience in program development and building scalable student support structures. Experience in creating transitional and developmental student experiences. All faculty must meet SACSCOC guidelines within the discipline.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in work force development.
