The College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences is expanding programs to include a Bachelor of Science in Nursing program with students to begin nursing courses in Fall 2025. The Bachelor of Science in Nursing program is a professional bachelor’s degree that has initial accreditation from the Higher Learning Commission, the Indiana State Board of Nursing, and will be seeking accreditation from CCNE (Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education) in fall 2026.

Position summary: This position is a full-time, 10-month, faculty appointment with administrative duties in the College. This position may be tenure track or non-tenure track, depending upon the candidate’s qualifications. Academic rank will be commensurate with the candidate’s level of experience and qualifications at the time of hiring, but a minimum of associate professor qualifications is required. The Department Chair will engage in teaching, scholarship, and service activities consistent with the typical requirements of COPHS faculty. The Department Chair reports to the Dean of COPHS and will serve as a member of the College Leadership Team.

Two of Butler’s key strategic priorities are “to create an intentionally diverse, inclusive, and equitable campus community,” and to “build a culture of empowerment, engagement and accountability.” We seek candidates whose research, teaching, and/or life experiences have prepared them to contribute to engagement with and inclusion of culturally diverse students, faculty, and staff.

Minimum qualifications:

  • Earned master’s and doctoral degrees, at least one of which is in nursing
  • Possess a current or able to apply for an unencumbered registered nurse (RN) license in Indiana
  • At least 2 years of clinical experience in nursing
  • At least 6 years of full-time teaching experience consistent with associate professor rank
  • Established scholarly record with national dissemination of work, consistent with associate professor rank
  • Demonstrated record of leadership, collaboration, and mentorship in a nursing educational program
