The School of Arts and Social Sciences (AHSS) at Habib University invites applications in Habib University’s Global Fellows program for User Experience (UX) | Design Interaction (IxD) in its Communication & Design program. Habib University’s two-year Global Fellows Program offers advantages over typical postdoctoral positions. It caters to outstanding scholars worldwide, integrating them as faculty, offering diverse opportunities, and supporting long-term career prospects. The program also offers flexiblity of one-year fellowships.
We are seeking Global Fellows who are passionate about teaching and student learning at the undergraduate level in line with global developments in their field. They also engage in the intellectual life of the university through public speaking sessions, student mentoring and curriculum enrichment.
Fall appointments begin August 1st and Spring appointments begin January 1st.
Qualification: Candidates must have a Ph.D. or terminal degree, and relevant background in interaction design, user experience design, human-computer interaction, or similar fields. Candidates with backgrounds in service design, systemic design, industrial design, or communication design, or related fields like architecture, may also be considered if they also have relevant professional or research experience. Ideal candidates should possess strong visual and/or tangible design skills and demonstrate a capacity for conducting original and creative work informed by critical research with stakeholders, an active professional or scholarly design practice, be able to consider the design of interactions, interfaces, and experiences beyond the screen, and\or have experience relevant to design practice and pedagogy in the Global South. Experience studying in and/or working in a liberal arts environment will be an advantage.
Responsibilities: Primary responsibilities include: teaching undergraduate courses, student mentorship, research supervision and collaboration, public seminars, and curriculum enrichment. The annual teaching load of Global Fellows is four (4) three- or four-credit courses.
The Global Fellows are provided competitive renumeration, relocation funds, space in university housing, and protection against currency fluctuations. Global Fellows will have the opportunity to transition to a full-time faculty position towards the end of their fellowship.
