Job Description
Develop instructional material related to the area assigned. Implement curriculum in accordance with School of Nursing philosophy and organizing framework. Maintain all records related to the specified assignment. Assist with review, evaluation, and development of the curriculum. Select and implement learning activities for assigned students. Participate in academic advisement activities. Participate in the orientation of faculty. Engage in public service and continuing education activities which promote personal and professional development. Initiate and/or participate in research activities. Actively participate in faculty development activities. Share responsibilities for peer review. Actively participate in school and departmental meetings and university-wide committees. Assume responsibilities for being prepared to make sound judgments in matters regarding academic policies. Share responsibilities for assisting with student extracurricular activities. Participate in tutoring activities. Assist in the learning resource lab in the assigned course. Participate in the preparation of all tests in the assigned course. Attend and/or review all lectures to apply principles and concepts in clinical settings. Attend all faculty team meetings, support group norms, and raise issues as needed. Participate in total program evaluation. Act as a resource person for specific area of expertise as needed. Additionally, faculty assigned clinical teaching responsibilities should: Develop clinical instruction plans as assigned; select learning experiences to meet clinical objectives and individual needs of students; review and evaluate clinical learning and performance tools jointly with other instructors at the end of each semester; submit to course leader test materials related to specific area of instruction; maintain continuous communication with clinical agency personnel to facilitate student learning experiences; observe and evaluate the performance of assigned students; keep students informed of their progress
Minimum Qualifications
To teach in the undergraduate program, applicants must possess a master’s degree in nursing and current clinical experience. To teach in the Graduate program, applicants must possess an earned Doctorate in nursing or a related field and a master’s degree in Nursing. Previous teaching experience and record of scholarly accomplishments preferred. Certification in a specialty area is preferred (including but not limited to) Family Primary Care NP, Adult Health, Pediatric Nursing, and Women’s Health. Must possess unencumbered Tennessee RN license at the time of initial appointment.
