Class Summary: The Executive Director of Continuing Education is a strategic and self-sufficient leader responsible for cultivating strong community partnerships and driving the expansion of relevant and impactful continuing education programs, including a robust portfolio of corporate training initiatives. The Executive Director will develop and implement innovative revenue-generating programs, ensuring both financial success and program excellence. This role necessitates a proactive individual who thrives in a collaborative team environment, demonstrates a strong sense of ownership and a commitment to directly contribute to project success.

This role focuses on expanding corporate and contract training, developing high-demand workforce programs including but not limited to allied health, business, technology, and fostering strong partnerships with local industries and community organizations. The Executive Director will possess a strong understanding of workforce trends, excellent communication skills, and a commitment to meeting the evolving needs of the community and employers.

Minimum Education/Training/Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration, or related field required.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of experience in higher education, workforce development or for-profit sector, with at least three (3) years in a leadership role with supervisory responsibilities.

Preferred Education/Training/Experience

  • Master’s degree preferred.
  • Experience with state and federal workforce development funding and grant programs.
  • Previous experience in business and industry outreach, including securing training contracts and collaborative agreements.

Minimum Knowledge & Skills

  • Knowledge of the mission of comprehensive community colleges and the needs of the diverse students that we serve.
  • Proven experience in managing corporate training partnerships, contract training, and workforce development programs.
  • Strong understanding of the current and emerging trends in allied health, business, technology, and other workforce sectors.
  • Knowledge of the Texas higher education system and the specific needs of Texas industries.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills with the ability to form partnerships with business leaders, government agencies, and community organizations.
  • Experience developing and managing budgets, with a strong understanding of fiscal planning and resource allocation.
  • Knowledge of accreditation standards, workforce development trends, and high impact practices.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and motivate a diverse team of faculty and staff.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, with a commitment to innovation and continuous improvement.

Preferred Knowledge & Skills

  • Knowledge of performance-based funding models.
  • Fluency in Spanish or other languages.

Job Duties

  • Oversee all aspects of the Continuing Education department, including curriculum development, instruction, and budget management.
  • Lead efforts to expand corporate and contract training offerings, with a focus on customized workforce solutions for local industries.
  • Develop and manage programs in allied health, business, technology, and other high-demand fields to ensure they meet the evolving needs of the workforce.
  • Foster partnerships with local businesses, government entities, and other community organizations to create training opportunities aligned with industry demands.
  • Collaborate with faculty, staff, and administration to ensure continuing education offerings complement the College’s academic mission and meet community needs.
  • Manage the recruitment, hiring, training, and professional development of continuing education instructors and staff.
  • Create and monitor metrics for program success, evaluating performance, and ensuring programs meet student and employer expectations.
  • Promote a culture of continuous improvement through the adoption of innovative teaching and learning practices.
  • Develop and manage the area budget, ensuring financial stability and efficient allocation of resources.
  • Represent the college in external partnerships, industry forums, and at regional and state-level workforce development events.
  • Stay informed of workforce trends and economic development initiatives to help shape the direction of continuing education programs.
  • Full-time position with evening and weekend commitments required.
  • Occasional travel to meet with industry partners, attend conferences, and represent the college at external events.

Physical Requirements

Sedentary Work: Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time. Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required only occasionally and all other sedentary criteria are met.

Minimum Salary Range: $105,711

Mid Point Salary Range: .

Maximum Salary Range: $137,424
