RESPONSIBILITIES
Faculty Role:
- Fulfill academic faculty obligations, comprising 40% teaching, 20% scholarship, 15% service, 5% development, and 20% as negotiated with the Dean.
- Advise and mentor undergraduate students in both academic and career planning.
- Engage in scholarly activities and contribute to the body of knowledge.
- Participate in university service, including departmental responsibilities and committee work.
- Support and promote the Catholic mission and values of the university.
Leadership:
- Representation and Advocacy: Effectively and ethically represent the program’s goals, strategies, and interests to the university internally.
- Development and Improvement: Contribute to developing, reviewing, and revising the major by incorporating best practices, research, performance needs assessments, and training evaluations into the design and delivery of the program to maintain contemporary and relevant education.
- Evaluation: Participate in systematic program evaluation and assessment activities to ensure continuous quality improvement and compliance with accreditation standards.Collaborate with other departments and stakeholders to foster interprofessional education opportunities.
- Evaluation: Participate in the review of curriculum and other resources, including textbooks, supplies, and on-site learning centers.
- Diversity and Inclusion: Support diversity and inclusion, fostering a positive work environment that promotes interpersonal relationships, effective communication, collaboration, and consensus building.
- Shared Governance: Collaborate with relevant school and university shared governance committees on academic, curricular, student, and faculty affairs matters.
- Team Collaboration: Perform all duties in a manner that promotes effective team collaboration and reflects the University and Providence’s mission and philosophy.
Student Experience:
- Ensure a positive and enriching experience from recruitment and admissions through graduation.
- Support efforts for student recruitment, retention, and success.
- Address student concerns and grievances in a timely and effective manner.
Policy, Accreditation, Compliance, and Quality Assurance:
- Contribute to preparing internal reports related to the major.
- Stay abreast of current trends and best practices in psychology and higher education.
Community Engagement:
- Represent the program at professional conferences and community events.
Professional Development:
- Maintain contemporary knowledge in the field of expertise and higher education by attending local, state, and national conferences and participating in other professional development activities to ensure the university’s programs remain robust, current, and relevant.
EDUCATION:
- Ph.D. in Psychology or closely related field (ABD candidates with expected completion before start date may be considered).
- Evidence of excellence in undergraduate teaching.
- A record or promise of scholarly productivity.
- Commitment to fostering an inclusive and engaging learning environment.
- Willingness to contribute to the university’s Catholic identity and mission.
EXPERIENCE:
Experience teaching at a liberal arts institution.Interest in community engagement, service-learning, or interdisciplinary teaching.Commitment to integrating best practices into academic systems and processes.Track record of scholarly activities.Licensure: If eligible for professional licensure (Professional Counselor, National Certified Counselor, Certified Rehabilitation Counselor), one must have a current, unencumbered professional license and Montana licensure eligibility.
