Position Summary

The Assistant/Associate Professor of Management Information Systems in the H-E-B School of Business and Administration teaches graduate and undergraduate classes in Management Information Systems. Instruction in business intelligence, decision science, and data analytics courses will be required. Areas of focus include predictive analysis, data-mining, systems analysis and design, database, and business intelligence courses. Publishing in peer reviewed articles in the discipline, providing service to the program, school, university, and the community is expected.

Essential Functions

Teach a variety of graduate and undergraduate courses in both management information system and decision science. In addition, the faculty member maintains an active research program leading to peer-reviewed publications. Additional expectations include advising students and building relationships with the area’s business community and professional organizations. Official duties and responsibilities of faculty members at the University include teaching, scholarship, service and professional activities. In all matters, faculty are expected to maintain the highest standards of professional ethics consistent with the UIW Mission.

Knowledge Skills and Abilities

  • Broad understanding of different data analysis techniques, methods, and statistical tools;
  • Proficiency in SPSS, R, STATA, Python, data visualization and mining tools;
  • Knowledge and experience in data mining/analytics;
  • Ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse communities and cultures;
  • Employee shall adhere to all applicable rules and regulations of the University, the Conference, and the NCAA.

Required Education

Earned doctorate in management information systems, data science or related field from an accredited university with at least 18 hours in the discipline is required. ABDs with a dissertation defense scheduled prior to August 2020 will be considered.

Required Work Experience

Previous teaching experience at a higher education institution or within an industrial environment is preferred but not required.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 1-2 years of teaching experience in higher education or training in an industrial environment is preferred;
  • Experience in curriculum development is beneficial.

Varied daytime and evening hours.
