Job Description

The Department of Teaching and Learning at Tennessee State University is seeking innovative and engaging candidates to apply for a full-time, tenure-track Assistant/Associate Professor and Coordinator of Special Education beginning Fall 2023. The Special Education program reflects an active faculty devoted to teaching, service, scholarship and professional development. The successful candidate will coordinate the program, develop, and teach graduate and undergraduate level special education courses via different formats (e.g Face-to-Face, Hybrid, Online).

In addition to teaching, the successful candidate will: (a) develop and maintain an active scholarship/research agenda; (b) serve on program, department, College and university committees; © support the culturally and linguistically diverse populations served by the University; and (d) maintain professional development through engagement, interactions and relevant activities. The successful candidate will also be expected to work in collaboration with other colleagues in the College of Education, with community partners, and maintain involvement in campus activities and other responsibilities as deemed necessary.

Minimum Qualifications

The ideal candidate must have an earned terminal degree in Special Education or a related field (e.g. learning/behavioral disabilities, interventionist, etc.). The Special Education program reflects an active faculty devoted to teaching, service, scholarship and professional development. The successful candidate will coordinate the program, develop, and teach graduate and undergraduate level special education courses via different formats (e.g Face-to-Face, Hybrid, Online).
