Job description
The Department of Criminal Justice at Tarleton State University invites applicants for a tenure track Assistant Professor position at the Stephenville, TX campus. Responsibilities include teaching, research, and service. Areas of specialization are open (generalist).
Responsibilities
80% Teaching and Service: 4/4 teaching load in long semester. Develop, implement, and review effective teaching/learning processes, incorporating appropriate methodology, technology, and other tools; Remain current in discipline and update course content when appropriate to reflect current levels of student knowledge in the discipline; Develop a system for ongoing evaluation of both teaching and learning, including expectations of student competency and student learning outcomes; Work in partnership with immediate supervisor through a formal system of evaluation of instruction to identify strengths and weaknesses and identify professional development activities to improve student learning.
20% Research/Scholarship: Demonstrate a record of ongoing research/scholarship appropriate to the academic discipline.
Education and Experience:
PhD./Doctoral degree in Criminal Justice or Criminology (or related field). A Juris Doctor (JS) along is not sufficient. Teachers of record must possess minimum Southern Association of Colleges and Schools credential standards which normally include a Master’s degree with 18 graduate semester credit hours in the subject area or suitable approved justification.
Preferred Qualifications:
Area of specialization is open; the ability to teach statistics at the undergraduate and graduate level is desirable.
