Job Description

The Department of Languages and Communication invites applications for the position of Assistant Professor of English (tenure-track). The qualified candidate will have a specialization in Composition & Rhetoric with experience preferred in Writing Center Administration. The preferred candidate will have an interest in being involved in our Center of Excellence for Writing and Public Discourse. The successful candidate will demonstrate evidence of excellence in teaching as well as a commitment to scholarly research and service. The Department is committed to fostering a culturally diverse and inclusive intellectual community. This appointment begins Fall 2023.


  • Teach undergraduate English classes and contribute to English program assessment and development; advise and mentor undergraduate English majors and minors.
  • Engage in scholarly research activities.
  • Serve on departmental and university committees and engage in other forms of service to the university and academic community.

Required Education & Experience:

  • Ph.D. in English, Rhetoric & Composition, or related field. Degree must be in conferred by August 2023.
  • Three years of teaching experience at the college/university level.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Ph.D. in Rhetoric and Composition.
  • Four years of teaching experience at the college/university level.
