Description
The Department of Psychology at Hofstra University is seeking a licensed clinical psychologist to serve as a one-year (Fall 2025 and Spring 2026) Special Assistant Professor in its APA-accredited School and Community Psychology PsyD program. The person filling this position will have the following responsibilities:
Fall 2025
PSY 246 School Psychology Practicum (3 Credits)
PSY 349 Community Internship and Supervision I (3 Credits)
Field Placement Coordinator (3 Credits)
Spring 2026
PSY 220 Consultation in Schools and Health Service Settings (3 Credits)
PSY 350 Community Internship and Supervision II (3 Credits)
PSY 251 Readings: The Role and Function of the School Psychologist (3 Credits)
Field Placement Coordinator (3 Credits)
These courses require the integration of the individual’s practice experience, perspective of the changing social landscape, and the science of school psychology. It is especially critical that the individual be aware of current findings in the field and be able to provide contemporary readings and exercises for graduate students to complete.
The position is term-limited for one-year without anticipated renewal.
Qualifications
- PhD or PsyD in School Psychology or a highly-related field from an APA-accredited university is required.
- Active licensure as a school psychologist, ideally in NY State.
- Prior teaching experience at the undergraduate level.
Preferred Quals Summary
- Current or recent practice as a school psychologist
- Prior teaching experience at the graduate level
