Position Description
The Department of Classics invites applications for an Instructional Assistant Professor position to begin in Spring 2026. The teaching load for the position is 4-4, with reductions possible in conjunction with defined substantial service duties. In any case, the IAP will also participate in department events and provide routine departmental faculty service. This position is a nine-month academic year, non-tenure track appointment, with promotion possibilities.
A Ph.D. in Classics or a related field is required for this position. Strong applicants will have experience developing and teaching a range of courses in Classics (including Latin and Greek language) and will demonstrate success in teaching undergraduates. Flexible instructors with a willingness to continue developing courses to meet departmental needs and student interest are of particular interest, as are applicants with experience or training in areas that could support the administration of the Department’s programs and pursuit of its goals. Examples are student advising and mentoring, on-line course development and teaching, language pedagogy, teaching first-year writing, community engagement and outreach work.
