Job Summary:

The Associate Instructor provides instructional technical support to Learning Resources and is responsible for the operation and supervision of an area, assigned classroom or laboratory. Collaborates college-wide with Learning Resources personnel in support of a discipline, program of study or school.

Duties & Responsibilities:

* Assists librarians and discipline faculty in the delivery of instruction services i.e. reference service, ask-a-librarian, embedded services, instructional support, Virtual College and online services
* Operates, manages, and supervises multiple service areas in Learning Resources in a manner consistent with educational standards and college-wide policies and procedures
* Informs and assists students in meeting faculty and departmental requirements and recording progress in the library, academic laboratories, or other learning resources programs as needed
* Provides instructional support to students in accessing academic software, subject databases, materials and discipline tutorials used in learning resources areas
* Provides technical support to discipline faculty involved in the college-wide evaluation and selection of instructional software, hardware, materials (print and non-print) for a program of study
* Coordinates and implements outreach activities to promote Learning Resources services including social media
* Provides guidance, trains, and assists in the professional development of staff and part-time personnel
* Assists in the development of tests, surveys and other assessment instruments for the library, academic laboratories or other Learning Resources areas
* Analyzes statistical data, prepares college-wide reports, and keeps accurate, up-to-date records
* Recommends instructional software applications and equipment for library/learning resources and computer laboratory areas
* Participates in college-wide workgroups to recommend policies and procedures for learning resources functions and services
* Maintains, manages and processes materials and equipment in the collection inventory
* Performs other duties as assigned

Minimum Requirements:

* Bachelor’s degree in related field and three (3) years of work experience in an academic setting; or Associate’s degree and seven (7) years of work experience in an academic setting
* All degrees must be from a regionally accredited institution
* Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office, departmental software applications and basic research methodology
* Knowledge and understanding of College organization, goals and objectives, and policies and procedures
* Proficient knowledge of educational technology including installation and use of hardware and software
* Proficient knowledge about all aspects of Learning Resources services: reference services, instructional support services and service desk functions: circulation, reserves, serials, and interlibrary loan
* Proficient verbal and written communication skills
* Ability to speak effectively before groups of students, faculty and staff
* Ability to multi-task and prioritize
* Knowledge and understanding of training and education principles
* Skilled in project management and able to meet deadlines
* Ability to read and interpret documents and procedure manuals
* Ability to analyze and summarize data and write reports
* Ability to speak effectively before groups of users
* Ability to supervise others and make decisions
* Ability to solve problems and think critically
* Ability to maintain effective interpersonal relations with students, faculty and administration and to work collaboratively
* Ability to work in a multi-ethnic and multi-cultural environment with students, faculty and staff
