Job description

Judson University is seeking a full-time Department Chair for the undergraduate Business Department beginning AY 2023-2024. The successful candidate has the opportunity to build upon a vision of engaging business majors as well as external partners with value-laden, ethics-rich business education. S/he will devise a strategic plan that embraces Judson’s distinctive reputation as well as reimagines what the future might hold for the Judson University Business Department. The Department Chair may also teach courses in his/her business-related field (accounting, management, marketing, etc.)

Primary Responsibilities:

The Business Department Chair will work collaboratively with the VP of Academic Affairs to lead the Business Department by hiring and developing full-time and adjunct faculty, scheduling courses, advising students, planning/executing events, and working collaboratively with colleagues across campus. The duties of the position include the following:

  • Contributing to the ongoing development of the Business Department, currently one of the largest majors on campus
  • Developing the curriculum and course schedules for the program
  • Hiring and reviewing faculty members
  • Designing and delivering instruction through the development of robust syllabi, purposeful activities to meet course competencies, and the integration of faith throughout
  • Mentoring and advising undergraduate students in the Business Department
  • Conducting scholarly work in the form of research and/or service to the profession, and maintaining active memberships in relevant professional associations/organizations
  • Cultivating and nurturing external partnerships in the business world
  • Creating and maintaining a diversified student recruitment strategy
  • Participating in professional organizations and conferences
  • Being committed to excellence in teaching and academic advising, collaborative curriculum development, and service on departmental and university committees.

Qualifications:

  • An earned terminal degree (master’s degree, doctorate preferred,) in Business Administration, Management, MBA, or related field.
  • A commitment to the Mission, Educational Goals, and Community Standards of the University
  • Support Christian liberal arts education, with the ability to integrate faith in the discipline in an engaging and compelling manner
  • Collaborative skills to work with colleagues in the Department and throughout the University

Salary/Benefits:
