Summary of Job Duties:
This position is a 100% 12-month non-tenure track Clinical Assistant Professor appointed in the Department of Occupational Therapy. The Clinical Assistant Professor, Academic Fieldwork Coordinator (AFWC) for Occupational Therapy will work with the Program Director, Capstone Coordinator, and other campus programs to collaborate and cultivate fieldwork, internship, and capstone sites for this OTD program. The AFWC is responsible for providing OTD students with quality fieldwork, opportunities in traditional, non-traditional, and role-emerging sites while overseeing compliance with all related ACOTE standards. This position will collaborate with fieldwork educators to ensure that fieldwork experiences meet the Program’s objectives. This is a faculty position with some teaching, scholarship activities, advisement, and service responsibilities in addition to the administration of clinical components. Significant travel to clinical sites is required. This position requires significant contact with students, outside constituents, professional consortium, and clinical education faculty.
This position includes a secondary appointment with the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS). The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) issued a rule requiring employees at all hospitals and health care institutions be fully vaccinated for COVID-19. In accordance with this rule, all new UAMS employees must meet the CMS guidelines and be fully vaccinated prior to their first day of work. Regular, reliable, and non-disruptive attendance is an essential job duty, as is the ability to create and maintain collegial, harmonious working relationships with others.
Qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications:
- Doctoral degree from an accredited institution of higher education conferred by the start of employment
- Licensed/eligible for Arkansas OT license
- At least two years of clinical experience as an occupational therapist
- Demonstrated excellent communication skills and ability to work in a team setting
- Promotes professionalism by modeling such behaviors inside and outside the classroom settings
Preferred Qualifications:
- At least three years of clinical experience
- At least one year experience as an Academic Fieldwork Coordinator (AFWC) in an OT or OTA program
- At least three years in an educational setting
- Work experience and familiarity with Northwest Arkansas
- At least one year previous experience as a full-time faculty with teaching responsibilities
- Supports diversity, inclusion, and/or occupational justice
