- Teach 100-300 level undergraduate courses in the department of Computer Information Science at Minnesota State University, Mankato.
- A typical faculty workload responsibility may include up to twenty four (24) credits of instruction per academic year.
- The successful candidate may need to teach in other areas as assigned and qualified.
- May be expected to develop and deliver face-to-face, hybrid, and on-line instruction at the Mankato campus, online, and/or at the university’s additional locations, as assigned.
- The successful candidate will collaborate with colleagues in curriculum design, instruction and evaluation, conduct research productively and mentor students in research, help create innovative strategies for student recruitment, retention, and completion, and may be expected to develop external grant funding opportunities.
- All faculty members are expected to engage in scholarly or creative activity or research, in continuing preparation and study, in contributing to student growth and development, and in providing service to the university and community (See Article 22 and Appendix G of thehttp://www.mnsu.edu/hr/bargaining.html
- Master’s or higher degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Management Information Systems or closely related field (conferred on an official transcript at the time of application). A candidate from a different discipline may be considered, but must have at least 18 graduate level credits in a computing discipline.
- Demonstrated success in or potential for delivering quality instruction at the university level.
- Demonstrated experience or potential for presenting to large (60+) groups using classroom technology and learning management systems.
- Demonstrated experience or potential for teaching 100-300 level undergraduate computing courses including Word, Excel, Access and other MS Office Suite applications.
- Demonstrated commitment to fostering a diverse working and learning environment.
- Demonstrated effective written, oral communication and/or presentation skills.
- Strong ability to communicate and collaborate with students, staff and faculty.
- University/college teaching experience at undergraduate and/or graduate level.
- Industry experience and/or professional certifications.
- Experience supervising and mentoring tutors and lab teaching assistants.
- Demonstrated experience teaching diverse student populations including first generation students and second language learners.
Work safely at all times, which includes but is not limited to, participating and completing all required safety trainings, as well as performing all job tasks in accordance with Minnesota State University, Mankato policies and procedures utilizing appropriate tools, equipment and personal protective equipment.

The department of Computer Information Science, located in the Mankato campus, is comprised of thirteen full-time faculty members actively engaged in teaching, research and service. The department offers undergraduate majors in Management Information Systems, Computer Information Technology, and Health Informatics. In addition, master’s degrees are offered in Information Technology, Information Security & Risk Management, Health Informatics and Analytics, and Data Science; as well as minors and certificates for students with varying interests and backgrounds.
